“Thank you, Grandma Patti”

Elise recently got a small package in the mail from Grandma Patti. After she opened it up we tried to get her to use her sign language to say “thank you”…something that she’s usually pretty good at…but she must have been a little shy in front of the camera this time:

Thank you!

Trip to North Carolina

Elise and Jenny went to visit Erick’s family in North Carolina a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, Erick didn’t have enough vacation to go with us. Despite that, we had a great time. Erick’s mom and Jeff were down visiting from New Jersey as well as Jeff’s sister and her husband from West Virginia. Of course Nana, Cousin Jeanette, Uncle Jon, Aunt Jill, and Uncle Keith were there, too. They all live in North Carolina. Elise LOVED the beach. She was unstoppable! We took turns chasing her the sand–mostly Grandma Patty, though! She also really loved being pulled around in the laundry basket by Uncle Jon. Check out the photos.

Waldchen Visits

For the past week, we have had other Waldchens visiting us. Laura (Erick’s sister) was driving home from school in Colorado to New Jersey and stopped to see us for a few days. That was so nice because we don’t get to spend a lot of time with her usually. Elise loved Aunt Laura and seemed to think she was so much fun! Elise really loved it when Laura rocked her and spun her in the green chair. Then we got to see Karen, Erick’s step-mom, for a short but fun visit as she flew in to drive back with Laura. They left and a couple days later Erick’s dad came to see us for the weekend. Elise had a great time with her Opa, too. She loved playing with his toes, velcro sandals, and his glasses case. But especially just playing with Opa! We wish they were closer and we could see them more often.

A New Look

I thought it was time to freshen up the website a bit. Let me know what you think.

Elise’s First Birthday

It’s hard to believe that a whole year has already gone by. In celebration of that milestone, Jenny and I invited some friends and family over to our house on Saturday. In addition to about 18 adults, we had 5 little girls all within six month of year other…yep, it was a bit chaotic, but lots of fun. Jenny discovered that a local supermarket, Dominicks, gives out free birthday cakes for first birthdays. Here’s a short clip showing how we took full advantage of that. 😉 And in case you’re wondering, Jenny also made a delicious strawberry angel food cake for the rest of us to eat. In addition to the video, there’s also a photo gallery of Elise’s first birthday here.
